Wearing of the orange
(by david). Just so you all know, I put a chain on the gate at the bottom of the hill. The gate isn't locked but most hunters are too lazy to get out and check, especially on a rainy weekend like this one. After hunting season we can go back to normal uphill road operations.

Powerless

So we were without power for about eighteen hours. Makes you wonder about the P.U.D.'s efforts to get an extra powerline into the valley. That effort has gone on as long as I've lived here (almost ten years) and we still don't have that power line. Hmmm...

Scariest Uphill Road picture ever
This picture was taken about midnight on August 8th, 2006 during the Tripod and Spur peak fire. I woke up and it was weirdly bright out. I went upstairs and looked out the window and, damn!
The picture itself was a thirty-second time exposure on a tripod. It took about a half-dozen tries to get a decent picture.
